RE: Jayco 23 B owners?

The rear bed size has been discussed alot due to the brochure calling the rear a queen vs double. Here is what I found on my 2008. Decide for yourself if it is a queen or not.:@ Link to 2008 23B Bed Size Post

RE: Jayco 23 B owners?

We have had our 23B for about 1 year and love it. Of course there are little things that we would like to have but nothing major. The most obvious is a place to carry bikes outside the RV like the ROO model with the front storage (23SS???). One thing of note with the new Jayco 23J model I noticed is that the sofa appears to be only 2/3rds of the sofa in the 23B. It looks like a 2 cushion model while the 23B is a 3 cushion model. That is the trade off for fitting the kitchen and the sofa into the slide and putting the u-dinette next to the door. One of our kids always wants to sleep on the couch and I enjoy laying out on it. If it was only 2 cushions I would not be able to do it. Also, based on the brochure both the 23J and 21M appear to have less storage accessible from outside. On the 23B, the storage under the seats of the dinette are accessible from the outside access panels. I didn't notice a separate access panel for the dinette storage on the 23J. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Pictures of Jayco 21M (2009)

Does anyone know why the 21M has the exterior bar style bunk latch while the 23B still uses the internal cam lock? 2009 Jayco 23B

RE: Jayco 19H problems

Regarding your awning. I have a 2008 23B with the power awning and it does have a rain dump feature. When the water pools sufficiently the weight will pull the awning material down in the center pulling the end back towards the RV wall. This allows alot of slack in the material and all the water runs off. We had a flash storm with the awning up and I watched this feature activate twice while standing under it. You can self activate it by pulling down on the arm that attaches to the trailer.

RE: RV Show

I have gone to the MARVAC shows at the Rock Financial Center in Novi for the last 5 or so years. I like going. It is mostly RV's but there are aisles with the latest accessories. There are also booths for different private campgrounds and RV clubs. We actually bought our RV at a show. We knew the best price going in and they matched it. Although I agree that after buying, it is always hard seeing what you missed out on by buying earlier. There is always something new every year. thanks for your opinion(: found this coupon for a 2 for 1 entrance fee Full Disclosure: We did not buy at these shows. The prices at these are most likely not the best you can get although they will quote large discounts available only at the show. Only after 5 years of shopping were we comfortable with buying at a show. It was because we knew a good price for what we were looking for and we were able to get it. Nonetheless it is a great opportunity to compare many different options all in one location.

RE: Jayco 23B - Storage behind dinette

The slide probably uses the more expensive track and motor mechanisms. My friend has a Crossroads fifth wheel that does not have the bar. So you probably could retrofit but it would be expensive.

RE: Jayco 23B - Storage behind dinette

No it doesn't have the storage behind the dinette. I noticed this difference from previous model years. We had been looking at the 23B for about 4 years. I don't know why they got rid of the openings. But every year they make changes. The 2009's don't need a transit bar to lock the slide-out. Oh well. Where did you buy the shelving units? Is this the standard Lowe's or Home Depot wire shelves? I saw Lowes had many different mounting styles, but none with just clips. They had one with rails that would mount to the back wall and would allow the shelves to be adjustable. I am hesistant to screw anything into the back wall because of the danger of damaging the outer wall of the camper.

RE: Jayco 23B - Storage behind dinette

smccollamjr I really like the shelves you installed in the clothes closet. Do you have any hints on how to do this? The last time I installed this style of shelves it required support arms that take up alot of space. Where did you screw into to hold the weight of the shelves? FYI - You may already know, but from your pictures it looks like you have the steep pitch awning. If you don't like how low it is fully extended, Jayco has been replacing them with the flat pitch under warranty.

RE: Very cold in Bunk ends

What kind of ceramic heater do you use and where do you put it in the 23B? Our boys complained on our early season trips this year that the rear bunk end was too cold. I was thinking of a small heater hanging from the center pole but I am not sure this is the best idea.

RE: What are you pulling with your Chevy Trailblazer?

Your numbers are correct. Somehow I missed the 4.10 in the chart I have. Can't figure out how that happened. :h Now I know, the first time I looked, it was at the chevy site below on the trailering tab http://www.chevrolet.com/trailblazer/specifications/ I disregarded the Trailblazer SS since I knew the engine in question was the 4.2l I6. This time I went to the service manual and it shows the data you provided. It may be that it was an option early in the model year but not anylonger on the non SS versions. :@ If you build your TB on the Chevy site, you can only select 3.42 or 3.73 for the Non-SS versions. The 4.10 is the only axle on the SS.

RE: What are you pulling with your Chevy Trailblazer?

With the 3.42 you can tow 5300 lbs. With the 3.73 you can tow 5800 lbs. With the 4.10 you can tow 6300 lbs. According to the GM tow ratings for the 05 Trailblazers. The 2008 ratings were increased by 100 lbs and the 4.10 axle is no longer an option. MRTjr wrote: I have an 05 TB EXT 4WD with 5.3L V8 and 3.42 axle and tow a 2008 Jayco 23B. Trailer GVWR is 4950#. It pulls fine. Most likely you have a 3.42 axle. The 3.73 or 4.10 is an option that most likely would come on a special order for someone planning for heavier trailering. Note a 4.10 is not available with V8 Short Wheelbase For the 2WD L6 engine 3.42 = 5300# + 500# for each step in axle For the 4WD V8 engine 3.42 = 5100# + 500# for 3.73 EXT Models For the 2WD L6 engine 3.42 = 5000# + 500# for each step in axle For the 4WD L6 engine 3.42 = 4800# + 500# for each step in axle For the 2WD V8 engine 3.42 = 5900# + 1100# for 3.73 For the 4WD V8 engine 3.42 = 5700# + 800# for 3.73 What do you mean, 5300# + 500# for each step in axle??

RE: Do most dealers not haggle?

Some throw in the hose and sewer line, mine didn't. The Jayco will come with about 25 foot of electric cord. But for the extra $1000 or more they are charging it is not worth it. A sewer hose is about $20 and a hose is about $25. 25ft of electrical cord is about $50.

RE: Do most dealers not haggle?

I got a price on a 2008 Jayco 23B from RVDirect. At the January RV show in Michigan, I talked to the dealer and said I would prefer to buy from him but his price is high. He asked what I got from RVDirect and them came back below it. Honestly I would have paid a couple hundred more than RVDirect just to have a local dealer. I think if you have the right information, they will be more open to dealing because you are educated in what the price could be. Especially if the units are not moving off of their lot. Be prepared to close the deal if they give you the price you want. You don't want to "think about it" after pushing for the reduction. Our 23B was less than what you have been quoted for the 19H. Does the price you list include taxes, plates and everything else? The RVDirect price won't include taxes. You will pay that in your home state when you register it.

RE: 2008 Jayco 23B Double Bed

OK. I finally got the facts. In my 2008 23B built in Oct 2007 the mattress dimensions are as follows: Front Bunk - Large Mattress - 40 x 76 Front Bunk - Small Mattress - 19 x 76 for a total of 59 x 76 Rear Bunk - Large Mattress - 38 x 76 Rear Bunk - Small Mattress - 19 x 76 For a total of 57 x 76 These were the measured dimensions as well as the sizes stamped on the mattress labels from the factory. So it is true that they are not the same size. However, Neither is a Standard Queen ( 60 x 78 ) but they are also both bigger than a standard double bed ( 54 x 75 ). Anyone with a pre-2008 or even an early build 2008 23B is free to share your mattress sizes to see if Jayco really ever did make the rear bunk larger.

RE: 2008 Jayco 23B Double Bed

Very interesting. I wonder if the actual bed sizes between the 07 and 08 are the same. Or if they made a late 2008 change. I plan to pick mine up this weekend and measure. A previous post indicated that the rear bed size was 57 inches wide which would be called a queen vs the front 60 inch queen. Link to previous post regarding rear bed size
